How can understanding soil derived hormones help us better understand ecosystems. New pre-print available now!
This project led by postdoctoral fellow Dr. Sarah Lane, has developed a method for simultaneous untargeted data acquisition for metabolomics research, and quantitative analysis of plant hormones in soils. While we have long understood the importance of above ground volatile signals in plant communication and growth, this method enables new research to better understand below ground dynamics. This work has implications for ecosystem function, agricultural production, climate resilience and soil microbial processes, including carbon sequestration.
